I started out in journalism at university, writing reviews for X-Campus magazine, and the Cambridge Evening News. I then WWOOFed my way around Asia, Australia, New Zealand, and the US for a year, moonlighting in yoga ashrams, rebirthing centres, biodynamic farms and private homes. I worked in programming at Foxtel and wrote for budget travel magazines in Sydney and Perth.
Back in the UK, I won a scholarship to study magazine journalism so moved to Peterborough and freelanced for lifestyle mags at the BBC, Emap, Bauer, IPC Media, & News International. I also worked in comms for advertising & PR agencies for the next few years, and did an 18-month stint in a corporate fraud agency – yes, they really do rifle through bin bags!
I’m a graduate of Anglia Ruskin University (BA Hons English) and have a postgraduate diploma in magazine journalism. Mostly, though, I’ve learnt from the school of life: on the job, via mentors, and via short courses, podcasts, and books. I’m a lifelong learner!
I listen, interpret and work hard to exceed expectations.
Creativity has always been at my core. As a child I loved to draw, paint, write, create. My first proper job was in the exhibition industry and when seeing brands come to life through 3D design, graphics, audio and visuals – I knew I was hooked. From there I worked for a number of small business’; designing marketing material, creating websites, content, logo design alongside hours of learning and building on my skills. I felt hugely rewarded to be a part of their success stories and shared the joy of every new enquiry or website conversion. As marketing and design has evolved, I have adapted – learning more skills, software, trends and sharing knowledge with my fellow creatives.
When I am not working, I am being a mum to my 3 children, riding my bike over the stunning and steep South Downs, taking photos, drinking wine and listening to music…oh and occasionally getting lost down the TikTok worm hole!
